The Open Education Consortium Welcomes New Members (July 2015)

The Open Education Consortium is pleased to announce the addition of the following new members:

Institutional Members

1. Hanze University of Applied Sciences, (Netherlands)

Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Hanze UAS), Groningen – the Netherlands, has establishments in Groningen, Assen, Leeuwarden and Amsterdam with approximately 26000 students and 3000 staff members. Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen trains qualified and committed professionals. It is an environment in which students, research-lecturers and companies meet and learn from each other. Teaching, research and professional practice are closely connected. Energy and Healthy Ageing are the strategic areas in which Hanze UAS has a high profile. These major social concerns are primary areas of focus in the university’s educational courses and research. Entrepreneurship is also a key concept and intrinsically associated with the name Hanze.

2. Swinburne University of Technology, (Australia)

Established as a university in 1992, Swinburne University of Technology is a world-class, multidisciplinary institution leading the way in science, technology, business, design and innovation. The university’s strengths build on its history as a technical training institute established over 100 years ago. In addition to the main Hawthorn campus, we have campuses in Wantirna and Croydon, and in 2000, opened an international campus in Sarawak, Malaysia. We offer on-campus study, in addition to online opportunities through Open Universities Australia and Swinburne Online. Swinburne is ranked among the world’s top 400 (top 3%) universities (Academic Ranking of World Universities, 2014), and was recognised by the Times Higher Education Rankings (2015) as one of the top 100 universities in the world under the age of 50.

3. Bay de Noc Community College, (USA)

Bay College is a community of higher learning that promotes student and regional success, leader in lifelong learning that empowers students and engages communities. Bay College is celebrating 50+ Years of Success. On November 6, 1962, a millage was passed, as well as a board of 7 trustees, to develop the dream and opportunity of bringing higher education to Delta County Michigan residents. With over 10,000+ alumni, Bay College awards degrees and certificates to over 500 students annually. The experienced faculty, staff and administrative team at Bay College are all committed to individual success and the growth of our served communities. Organizational Member

1. Mongolian University Of Science and Technology – E-Open Institute (E-OI), (Mongolia)

E-OI was established in 2010. The vision of E-OI is to assist Mongolian University of Science and Technology as an institution of learning and to provide academic services to people in need of higher education but who are outside the reach of our traditional education programs in their current form. The mandate of the E-OI is to widen our scope as the Mongolian Open Institute in the future.
