Personal statement

Open Education strategic initiatives, business development, and platform design figure prominently in my recent work history. Currently head of research, content, and technology partnerships at Gooru Learning. Formerly, I directed the OER Commons initiative from 2010-2014, a key learning network in the OER ecosystem where I built a services model for K12 OER technical services, developed a digital OER Quality rubric in partnerhship with Achieve, and expanded OER acess in the MENA region.

I hail from the Detroit Metropolitan area. My graduate work at the University of Michigan was centered at the intersection of information science and social welfare (MSI/MSW). I studied technology-enabled service innovation, interaction design, user experience design, and social computing.

I've been tracking the Open Educational Resource movement since its birth and was an early field designer through my work with Open Michigan, the first student led OER publishing model.

I advise nonprofits, foundations, and public sector institutions on open educational resource platforms and pedagogy, interoperability standards and frameworks for teaching an learning products and services, accessibility tools, collaborative learning social experience design, and edtech market innovation trends. I am well versed in the wide range of innovation inputs shaping the future of education.
