Citrus Community College District

Celebrating over 90 years of service, Citrus College is located in Glendora in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, approximately twenty-five miles northeast of metropolitan Los Angeles. The college has the distinction of being the oldest community college in Los Angeles County and the fifth oldest in the state. Citrus College was founded in 1915 under the leadership of Dr. Floyd S. Hayden, who helped bring the community college movement to California. Today, Citrus College occupies a 104-acre campus serving more than 11,000 students. Classes are offered on a 16-week calendar (fall and spring semesters), as well as in a variety of non-traditional scheduling options — six-week winter intersession, evenings, late start and early end, summer sessions, and optional class formats, such as distance education online courses and distance education integrated classes.

Citrus Community College District has an online program that represents about 10-11% of their enrollment. Faculty and staff are always looking for ways to reduce enrollment costs (textbooks and support materials) for students. Recently, there has been more momentum to adopt and utilize open resources.

Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium

Established under the Board for State Academic Awards, the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium (CTDLC) is a division of Charter Oak State College and a member of the Connecticut Board of Regents of Higher Education. As a public agency, CTDLC provides services and support to help educators in and out of Connecticut meet the ever increasing demands of developing and delivering effective technology-enhanced learning opportunities for students in higher education, adult education, middle and high schools, and the workforce.

The Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium (CTDLC) is a membership organization supporting online education initiatives. CTDLC has been leading an awareness campaign throughout its region to educate its member institutions on the benefits of Open Education. CTDLC is working with regional consortia to develop an OER initiative throughout the North East United States.

MarylandOnline

MarylandOnline (MOL) is a consortium of Maryland colleges and universities that offer certificate and degree programs; mainly in online format. Launched in fall 1999 with 12 charter member institutions, MOL extends access to collegiate degree programs especially to residents of Maryland whose work or family commitments prevent them from attending classes on a campus. MarylandOnline brings powerful online higher education resources to the citizens and employers of Maryland and the world. Membership in MOL is open to all Maryland higher education institutions, public and private, that are licensed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission and accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

MarylandOnline Members are committed to providing quality online education. High quality open education resources will enhance their members’ online courses.

Mohave Community College

Mohave Community College is a comprehensive community college serving more than 13,000 students each year. It serves the northwest portion of the State of Arizona and its neighboring communities in California, Nevada and Utah. MCC has campuses in Kingman, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and Colorado City, and an extensive distance education program – MCC-Online. The college offers programs that provide students with the skills, training and education they need for rewarding careers, and the academic foundation to go on to a university for a bachelor’s degree and higher. Mohave Community College strives to meet the growing workforce needs of business and industry and to provide opportunities for small business development.

MCC is committed to reducing the costs associated with student textbook purchases. Fall of 2014, MCC will offer 19 courses with no-cost or reduced-cost student textbooks and lab books. Future plans include the development of certificate and degree programs using only OER materials. In these planned programs of study, students will not incur any textbook costs. MCC will also support instructors interested in developing and licensing OER materials for others to use.

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is recognized by the independent government assessments as one of Malaysia’s leading research Universities. Founded in 1931 as the School of Agriculture, the University today combines impressive modern facilities and a dynamic approach to teaching and research with its proud heritage of quality services and achievements.

UPM is committed to providing conducive learning environment which fosters the development of creative, innovative, adaptive and competitive next generation human capital, anchored to 5 main principles: 1)With Knowledge, We Serve, 2) Open Access, Equal Opportunity, 3) Small Idea, Big Impact, 4) Local University, Global Community and 5) Enriching Learning Experience.

UPM aims to produce at least 20 OCWs and continually keep growing. At the same time, the university InforComm Development Centre is in the progress of developing the platform for PutraOpenCourseWare, which will be the official OCW platform for UPM.

University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) 

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is a Malaysian public university offering more than sixty academic programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both at Kota Samarahan and Sarawak, Malaysia. These academic programmes are offered at eight faculties, namely Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Resource Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development.

UNIMAS aims to become an exemplary university of internationally acknowledged stature and a scholarly institution of choice for both students and academics through the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship. UNIMAS strives to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge strategically and innovatively to enhance the quality of the nation’s culture and prosperity of its people.

University Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

UiTM is Malaysia’s largest institution of higher learning in terms of size and population. Besides the main campus in Shah Alam, the university has expanded nationwide with 12 state campuses, 6 satellite campuses in Shah Alam, 11 state satellite campuses and 21 affiliated colleges. With this vast network and a workforce of 17,770, the university offers more than 500 academic programmes in a conducive and vibrant environment. It is also home to some 175, 200 students. UiTM has been known as a comprehensive university. It has earned a reputation as being one of Malaysia’s innovative and entrepreneurial universities, as it has formed linkages with numerous and diverse industrial sectors. Hence, its relationships with the industries have enriched its research and innovation as well as its entrepreneurial culture.

IEEE – Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE wishes to explore collaboration in open activities, this could include developing and delivering workshops/events/projects/programs. IEEE wishes to learn from the OCW approach, particularly as they may have interest in taking a similar road for their continuing and professional education (CPE) offerings in future.

DeakinDigital

DeakinDigital is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deakin University, a multi-award winning (http://www.deakin.edu.au/study-at-deakin/why-choose-deakin) international university. They aim to provide new opportunities to gain credentials that are relevant to the workplace and aligned to university qualifications. Their evidence-based assessments have been developed under the guidance of internationally recognized experts in assessment and will accurately determine whether the capabilities described by the credentials have been attained.

DeakinDigital is committed to transparency in the processes involved in credentialing, allowing users to know what will be assessed and how. Users can make an informed choice about when to request assessment or ask for additional support in case other skills or knowledge is desired. Higher Learning TV

Higher Learning TV is a Satellite TV Channel in the Republic of South Africa (RSA) available on a free-to-air satellite TV network called – Openview: www.openviewhd.co.za. Their focus is on higher education in RSA.
