The Open Education Consortium Welcomes New Members (December 2014)

The OE Consortium is pleased to announce the addition of the following organizational member:

Boston Children’s Hospital

Boston Children’s Hospital is a 395-bed comprehensive center for pediatric health care. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, Boston Children’s Hospital offers a complete range of health care services for children from birth through 21 years of age. (Our services can begin interventions at 15 weeks gestation and in some situations we also treat adults.) OPENPediatrics is a global community of clinicians linked by innovative technologies that facilitate the sharing of best practices drawn from the full spectrum of resource settings worldwide.

OPENPediatrics shares academically rigorous and peer-reviewed content including guided learning pathways, expert lectures and demonstrations, interactive device simulators, protocols and medical calculators. We comply with the HONcode standard for trustworthy health information. Our site also connects providers through robust social collaboration tools, including discussion forums, document sharing and video chat capabilities.

Through OPENPediatrics, Boston Children’s Hospital will share medical animations and
illustrations, and videos through their public site (openpediatrics.org), and will act as an advocate for OER within the global pediatrics and medical education communities.
