MIT OpenCourseWare was honored to receive an award for Leadership in Educational Technology last night at the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut’s annual leadership banquet. The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut (MCCT) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 with the mission to promote shared values of mutual respect and social responsibility through educational and outreach activities.
The theme for this year’s banquet was “Technology, Equality and Education Reform.” The keynote speaker was MIT Alumnus Dr. Mohamed Aboutaleb (SM ’10, PhD ’12), founder of the Oaktree Institute, an Islamic education and leadership development institute. Honored with MIT OpenCourseWare were the Education Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly, Noor Kids, Hartford Public Library Multicultural Services Director Homa Naficy, and Covenant Preparatory School.
It was a pleasure for the OCW team to learn more about the great community service and intercultural exchange work undertaken by the MCCT, endeavors very much in the spirit of OCW’s efforts to foster educational and cultural exchange through the OpenCourseWare Consortium. We are honored to have been recognized along side the other recipients by the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut. Our congratulations to the other recipients and to the MCCT for a successful year.
