Open Education Consortium Committees are structured around the key priorities of the Consortium. They are formally established, either in the bylaws or by vote of the Board of Directors for a specific purpose, which is indicated in the committee “charge.”
Because committees serve the Board of Directors in an advisory capacity, each committee has not only a chair but also a board liaison, to whom they report their findings and/or recommendations.
Committee members make decisions as a collective group and hold joint responsibility for decisions and actions taken by the committee. Each committee has a mailing list, which is usually the primary method of communication. However, different collaborative web-based tools are provided according to the needs of each committee.
