Paul joins OEC after five years as Associate Director of Global Learning for Creative Commons where he helped creators, faculty, students, librarians and the public generate a global public commons of knowledge and culture. While at Creative Commons he co-authored the book Made With Creative Commons – a book about open business models.
Paul serves on the REMODEL Expert Panel, a circle of specialists in open source, IP, business development, and innovation who help develop REMODEL: A non-profit initiative to explore the future of open source-based business models for manufacturing.
Paul has extensive experience leading Open Educational Resource initiatives in Canada, USA, the Middle East / North Africa and around the world. Prior to Creative Commons Paul helped found BCcampus in 2003 and led its open education initiative for nine years. Paul excels at forming and leading strategic partnerships that amplify the reach and impact of open education.
Paul holds four degrees including an MEd in Adult Learning and Global Change from the University of British Columbia, a BEd from the University of Ottawa, and a BSc (Biology) and BA (Psychology) from the University of Guelph.
