NILRC is one of the oldest community college learning resources cooperatives in the nation. NILRC connects, advances, and advocates for community college libraries.
*We provide training and professional development opportunities to our members.
*Many of our member libraries advocate for OER adoption at their institutions.
*NILRC participates in statewide planning to collaboratively increase OER in Illinois higher education.
*Our organizational history of partnering libraries with online learning positions us well to facilitate OER awareness and proficiency for our member institutions.
*We held a member discussion about OER in May 2021 that yielded interest in joining OEG, and our Board supported initiating a consortial membership.
*Our strategic plan included supporting OER and we seek valuable yet manageable opportunities to accomplish that objective.
*NILRC wants to be able to connect members with the OEG community and strengthen the overall movement towards Open Education aims for faculty and student benefit.
