Central Arizona College is a two-year public institution serving Pinal County, Arizona. Pinal County is one of the fastest growing regions in the country as grow spills over from the adjacent populous Maricopa and Pima counties. CAC serves approximately 8,500 students, the majority of whom are minority and come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. CAC is a member of a consortium of rural Arizona community colleges that seek to develop OER materials to help their students meet the cost of the education. The OER content created by the consortium will sate students in the targeted colleges at least $2,000 a year.
